I was unfortunately one of the weeping fans that happen to live somewhere not in LA far, far away, but I could tell based on the pictures and the comments of fans that were there that Kai didn’t seem to smile too often and gave only a little bit of fanservice. Some fans think it’s because he’s still recovering from his injury or that he possibly wasn’t feeling well. Others have said that he was just generally rude or had a too-cool-for-fans attitude.
Personally, I think Kai just isn’t as social as the others. He’s probably shy or reserved, but not the type to be all lost and cutesy about it. I might be wrong later on, but he comes off as an introvert to me, which, mixed with his talent and confidence, I find very attractive. Honestly, being far away from his comfort zone, and having to be surrounded with heat and strangers, he was probably just a little too overwhelmed to be active with the group and with the fans. He said it himself that he doesn’t do much fanservice. It’s just his personality, and I don’t think he intended to come off rude.
I honestly don’t believe that so early in his career, he would think that highly of himself as to ignore the other fans. He’s probably already aware that, while he’s one of the favorites among fans, he isn’t number one or even number two. Besides, every celebrity has a level of ego in them; he was the golden boy among all the trainees in EXO. It’s hard for him to be entirely humble when everyone calls him perfect.
Hypothetically speaking, let’s say he did have that type of attitude. Well? Wouldn’t that just make him human? Would you rather he fake it and act like a nice, friendly, active person that he isn’t? Because honestly, imperfection is definitely more attractive, and those traits people claim he has might not be likable, but they would definitely make him more “real.”
This is just coming from my perspective. I’m not trying to act like I know everything. Kai just happens to be my favorite in EXO-K, so I pay attention to him a lot and appreciate everything that comes up about him. Whatever ends up being confirmed, I’m going to end up supporting him either way.<3

Kai said so himself that he has no experience in relationships on Hong Jin Kyung’s 2PM Radio Show, and there is no reason that he would lie about something that insignificant early on in his career. Even without that counteracting evidence, there is no way that SM Entertainment would allow a rookie - especially a very popular one - to be in a relationship. It would go against every principle of business strategy in their book.
He’s single. You are allowed to continue fantasizing of him.
